Cob-Blasting and Sanding
Cleaning with light power washing ( below 500 PSI) is often recommended for cleaning your log home or if your home needs a maintenance coat or additional coats of your current stain. Careful consideration is needed in order not to damage the wood fibers and avoid leaking into your log home. Appropriate chemical removers can also be used to remove dirt, grime, mold and mildew. Rinsing is a must and proper drying time should always be a consideration.
Complete removal of old existing finishes is also necessary if the existing finishes are failing or if you want a brand new look with a new stain. This can be accomplished with chemical strippers, sanding or corn cob blasting.
Chemical Removal of the existing finish includes application of strippers that are used to remove the finishes. This method does require rinsing and neutralizing of the wood before new finishes are applied.
